MICRO DERMABRASION

MICRO DERMABRASION

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure used to renew overall skin tone and texture. It can improve the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, acne scarring, melasma, and other skin- related concerns and conditions. it stimulates the production of skin cells and collagen.

The procedure uses a special applicator with an abrasive surface to gently sand away the thick outer layer of the skin to rejuvenate it.

A different microdermabrasion technique sprays fine particles of aluminum oxide or sodium bicarbonate with a vacuum/suction to accomplish the same outcome as the abrasive surface.

Microdermabrasion is considered a safe procedure for most skin types and colors. People might choose to get the procedure if they have the following skin concerns:

  • fine lines and wrinkles
  • hyperpigmentation, age spots and brown spots
  • enlarged pores and blackheads
  • acne and acne scars
  • stretch marks
  • dull-looking skin complexion
  • uneven skin tone and texture
  • sun damage

Preparing for microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a nonsurgical, minimally invasive procedure. There’s very little you need to do to prepare for it.

It a good idea to discuss your skin concerns with a skin care professional to find out if microdermabrasion is the right fit for you. Discuss any past cosmetic procedures and surgeries, as well as allergies and medical conditions.

You may be told to avoid sun exposure, tanning creams, and waxing for about a week before treatment. You may also be advised to stop using exfoliating creams and masks approximately three days prior to treatment.

How does microdermabrasion work?

Microdermabrasion is an in-office procedure that usually takes about one hour. It’s typically performed by a licensed skincare professional, who may or may not be under the supervision of a healthcare provider. This depends on what state you live in.

It’s not necessary to use anesthesia or a numbing agent for microdermabrasion.

During your appointment, you’ll be seated in a reclining chair. Your provider will use a handheld device to gently spray on the particles or sand away the outer layer of skin in the targeted areas. At the end of the treatment, a moisturizer as well as sunscreen will be applied to your skin.

Microdermabrasion was first approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 1996. Since then, hundreds of microdermabrasion devices have been produced.

Diamond-tip handpiece

A diamond-tip handpiece is designed to gently exfoliate dead cells in your skin. At the same time, it will suction them off immediately.

The depth of the abrasion may be affected by the pressure applied on the handpiece as well as how long the suction is allowed to remain on the skin. This type of microdermabrasion applicator is generally used in more sensitive facial areas, like close to the eyes.

Crystal microdermabrasion

Crystal microdermabrasion uses a crystal-emitting handpiece to gently spray on fine crystals to rub away outer layers of the skin. Like the diamond-tip handpiece, dead skin cells are suctioned off right away.

The different types of crystals that may be used include aluminum oxide and sodium bicarbonate.

Hydradermabrasion

Hydradermabrasion is a newer method. It involves combining simultaneous dermal infusion of products and crystal-free exfoliation. The entire process stimulates collagen production and maximizes blood flow to

Side effects of microdermabrasion

Common side effects of microdermabrasion include mild tenderness, swelling, and redness. These generally go away within a few hours after treatment.

You might be advised to use a moisturizer to minimize dry and flaky skin. Minor bruising may also occur. This is mostly caused by the suction process during the treatment.

What to expect after microdermabrasion

There is little to no downtime after microdermabrasion. You should be able to resume your daily activities immediately.

Keep your skin hydrated and use gentle skin care products. Avoid using topical acne medications for at least one day after treatment. It’s extremely important to protect your skin with sunscreen. Your skin can be more sensitive to the sun in the few weeks after the treatment.

You can expect to see noticeable results immediately after the procedure. The number of microdermabrasion sessions needed will depend on the severity of your skin concerns as well as your expectations.

Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a treatment for skin, particularly facial skin which helps improves texture of skin.

Skin Peels

Healthy, vibrant and glowing skin is the main pre-requisite for a charming face. One of the most popular and effective procedures is the chemical peel, which gives your skin the opportunity for a fresh start. A skin peel enhances and smoothens the texture of the skin. It is an effective treatment for facial blemishes, wrinkles, and uneven skin pigmentation.  Skin Peels exfoliate the outer layers of dead skin, revealing a new skin layer with improved tone, texture, and colour. Today, Skin peels are popular because they offer nearly immediate results and can be performed as an outpatient procedure.

GLYCOLIC PEELS

Glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that occurs naturally in sugar cane, is the most common ingredient of light skin peels. The ingredients and formulation of a light skin peel, however, depend upon the specific patient’s skin care needs. With light chemical peels, the solution is left on the skin for a relatively short amount of time.

When applied to the face or another part of the body, the AHA skin peel solution works by removing the outer layers of skin so that a new, smooth layer of skin is revealed. The action of the solution stimulates the production of elastin and collagen, essential components of healthy, youthful skin.

Salicylic Peels

When a Dermatologist refers to “ salicylic peels,” he or she is referring to a beta hydroxy acid peel. The most common beta hydroxy acid, salicylic acid, has been used for decades as an acne remedy, and salicylic acid chemical peels are especially effective in eliminating acne. Beta hydroxy acids are helpful because they can exfoliate oily skin and deeply penetrate the skin with no irritation.

Cosmelan Peels

Cosmelan has become the treatment of choice for melasma and especially for sensitive skin types prone to hyperpigmentation from sun exposure, heat or blemishes. Cosmelan works by blocking the action of the process that causes hyperpigmentation.

Cosmelan Advantages

Cosmelan is a 2 step intensive topical treatment system designed to reduce and regulate stubborn and dense pigmentation and blotchiness. Cosmelan’s blend of synergistic ingredients work fairly quickly, resulting in an effective blending and reduction of undesirable pigment.

Cosmelan regulates the melanin activity, causing the pigment producing cells to slow down their abnormal over-production and function in a more uniform way. Cosmelan is “sun-friendly” so you can use the products and still have an active outdoor lifestyle. It works well on all skin types – even darker toned Asian, Mediterranean and Latin skin. Cosmelan will also produce a slight initial peel which helps refinish the skin surface while diminishing hyper-pigmentation.

Uses

  • Effective in all kinds of melasma and chloasma.
  • It can be used any time of the year.
  • Compatible with all types of skin.
  • It permits sun exposure without the risk of spots appearing.
  • It is completely safe and does not include TCA or hydroquinone.
  • There are minimal side effects (very little redness and flaking).

TCA PEELS

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) can be used in many concentrations, but it is most commonly used for medium-depth peeling. Fine surface wrinkles, superficial blemishes and pigment problems are commonly improved with TCA peels.

Uses

  • Improves fine surface wrinkles
  • Lessens superficial blemishes
  • Helps blend pigmentation problems

Considerations:

  • Can be used on hands, neck or other body areas
  • May require pre-treatment with Retin-A or AHA creams
  • Treatment takes only 10-15 minutes
  • Peel depth can be adjusted

How TCA Peels Work

Trichloracetic acid (TCA) peels work by coagulating protein. Typical strengths used vary from 15% up to 50% (although when treating acne scars, higher strengths are used with great success). TCA peels may or may not contain dyes to make them blue. (Most people have heard of Blue Peel. which includes a blue dye so it is visually easy to apply.)

RETINOICACID PEEL/ YELLOW PEEL

Retinoic acid peel (yellow peel) belongs to skin treatments with a short recovery period. Retinoids (synthesized equivalents of vitamin A) regulate the processes of differentiation, proliferation, and intercellular communication. When retinoids get into a cell, they make a bond with nuclear sensors. As a result, particular sections of the cell genome are activated or decelerated.

The main advantages of this treatment are minimal skin damage, a brief recovery period and a low probability of complications.

Indications for Use of Retinoic Acid Peels:

  • lack of collagen production
  • mimic wrinkles
  • loss of skin elasticity and strength
  • need for skin whitening
  • skin aging and photo-aging
  • hyperpigmentation

Retinoic acid peel can also effectively cleanse the skin, has anti-inflammatory effects, makes skin glow, improves skin texture and structure, and provides a lifting effect.

Improvement

Following your Skin peel treatment, you will notice that the treated skin has improved tone, texture, and pigmentation. You should see further improvement as your course of treatments progresses.

Duration

The entire process of a light skin peel treatment usually takes less than an hour.

No of sessions

Patients might undergo five to eight light chemical peels to achieve optimal results. Just as the formulation of the Skin peel solution is customized for each patient, the number and spacing of the treatments varies according to individualized treatment plan for each patient.

Results will last for

It varies with the depth of the peel. Generally, deeper peels have longer lasting effects but require more recovery time. However, it is important to use a high quality broad-spectrum sunscreen to both protect your skin and maximize your peel’s long-term results.

Autologous fat

Autologous fat

Fat grafting , also called fat transfer, plumps up facial or body features with a patient’s own fat. Fat transfer is designed to minimize wrinkles and fill in parts of the face or body with a “sunken” appearance. It can also reduce scarring and correct deformities. Since fat transfer uses your own fat cells, there is no risk of the body rejecting the tissue.

Who is a candidate?

  • Facial scars, such as from acne.
  • Decreased facial volume due to diseases such as Hemifacial atrophy.
  • Sunken cheeks and wrinkles due to aging.
  • Small, depressed areas in sections of the body—such as around the breasts.

Intended Result

Improved body contour, reduced scarring, or enhanced features.

Procedure Description

  • Fat transfer is performed on an outpatient basis. Both the area from which the fat is taken and the treatment site are anesthetized with a local anesthetic.
  • Using a small needle, fat is removed from an area of the body where it is tightly packed, such as the abdomen or the buttocks.
  • Once removed, the fat is processed to remove excess fluids and then re-injected just under the skin using another needle.

Fat Injections Procedure

A fat transfer procedure can usually be performed as an outpatient procedure at the cosmetic center of your surgeon.

Step 1) Fat Removal

The fat transfer procedure begins with liposuction to remove some excess fat from the donor site, which could be the abdomen, buttocks, hips, “saddle bags,” thighs, or even jowls. In order to collect as many undamaged fat cells as possible, only very-low-suction liposuction is used. These fat cells are removed from the donor site with a small-gauge hypodermic needle or a special cannula that is designed to limit damage to the fat cells.

Step 2) Isolating Fat Cells

Once an adequate amount of fat has been collected, it is spun at a very high speed in a centrifuge to separate the fat cells from the liquid that is also removed by the liposuction. The damaged fat cells are removed. Only whole, undamaged, and cleansed fat cells are then used for the fat transfer.

Step 3) Re-Injection of the Fat

The fat transfer procedure is completed by injecting the fat cells into the target site(s) on your face. At this point, your doctor will have already identified the site for each fat injection, with the intent to correct imperfections or create a new contour. U sing a separate hypodermic syringe, the doctor will inject the fat cells at the depth needed to achieve the desired fat transfer results.

Common areas for fat grafting include:

  • Sunken cheeks
  • Hollow temples
  • Tear troughs
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Skin depressions
  • Facial creases and wrinkles

MESOGLOW

MESOGLOW

It restructures mature skin, repairs post-traumatic skin imperfections and increases the elasticity and hydration of the skin.

Duration

Mesotherapy for skin rejuvenation would require around half an hour.

No of sessions

For long lasting effect it is necessary to follow a course of treatment comprising 3 times with average interval of 3-4 weeks.

Results will last for

Medical studies have shown that, usually it would take around four to six round of sessions to see the final wonderful results.

    CO2 Laser

    CO2 Laser

Laser resurfacing is a procedure that uses a laser to improve the appearance of skin or treat minor facial flaws by removing layers of skin.

The two most common types of resurfacing lasers are:

Carbon dioxide (CO2): This type of laser is used to treat wrinkles, scars, warts and other conditions.

Erbium: This type of laser is used to remove superficial and moderately deep lines and wrinkles on the face, hands, neck and chest. It causes fewer side effects than CO2 lasers.

    CO2 Laser Resurfacing

This method has been used for years to treat different skin issues, including wrinkles, scars, warts, enlarged oil glands on the nose, and other conditions.

The newest version of CO2 laser resurfacing (fractionated CO2) uses very short pulsed light energy (known as ultrapulse) or continuous light beams that are delivered in a scanning pattern to remove thin layers of skin with minimal heat damage. Recovery takes up to two weeks.

    Skin Polishing

    Skin Polishing
